Position Information Position Title Music Librarian Assistant Department School of Fine Arts Appointment Term Academic Year (August
  • May) FLSA Non-Exempt Job Summary The Music Librarian Assistant supports the department's choral program by organizing and maintaining the music library, preparing and distributing scores, and assisting with routine administrative tasks. This position helps ensure that rehearsals, performances, and daily choral operations run efficiently. Essential Duties Music Library Organization & Maintenance
  • Catalog and file choral scores, maintain inventory, repair or replace damaged items, and assists in making sure music sets are complete. Concert & Rehearsal Preparation
  • Assemble and label music folders, mark cuts or measure numbers as directed, and prepare materials for distribution to ensemble members. Distribution & Collection
  • Maintain sign-out records, track issued music, and follow up on overdue or missing scores. Collect and check music after concerts. Light Administrative Support
  • Photocopy, scan, and file choral program documents; provide logistical support for the MoWest Honor Choirs and Solo/Ensemble Clinic, including registrations, materials, records, and event preparation Communication & Coordination
  • Provide regular progress updates to the Director of Choral Activities and flag any missing, incomplete, or damaged music Provide courteous customer service and communicate effectively with the Director of Choral Activities, students, faculty, schools, and outside organizations Required Qualifications MWSU Student Degree Seeking At least an overall 2.
0 GPA Enrolled at least part-time Reliability and ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to follow instructions and maintain accurate records. Willingness to handle printed and digital music materials with care Must handle departmental information responsibly and maintain confidentiality when appropriate Good communication skills and a professional demeanor in working with faculty, staff, and students. Ability to lift and transport boxes or stacks of music (up to 25 lbs) Preferred Qualifications Preference will be given to a music major, particularly a student pursuing a degree in choral music education. Familiarity with choral music and score organization; experience with databases, spreadsheets, or library systems The ideal candidate is dependable, self-motivated, able to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines, and interested in serving in the position for multiple semesters. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Must possess excellent customer service skills Be able to interact and communicate effectively with staff Ability to shelve and retrieve library music Basic computer skills, including word processing and spreadsheets Be detail-oriented
Physical Demands Sedentary Work:
Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
