Teen Services Library Assistant Position Type:
Part-Time Schedule Summer Week A:
Mon/Wed/Fri (2:00 PM
  • 6:00 PM), Tue/Thu (2:00 PM
  • 8:00 PM) (24 hours/week)
Summer Week B:
Mon/Wed/Fri (2:00 PM
  • 6:00 PM), Tue/Thu (2:00 PM
  • 8:00 PM), Sat (10:00 AM
  • 2:00 PM) (28 hours/week)
Winter Week A:
Mon/Wed/Fri (2:00 PM
  • 6:00 PM), Tue/Thu (12:00 PM
  • 6:00 PM) (24 hours/week)
Winter Week B:
Mon/Wed/Fri (2:00 PM

Hours may be adjusted for outreach events. Position Summary We are seeking an energetic, creative, and community-minded individual to join our Youth Services team. The Teen Services Library Assistant creates a welcoming environment for youth, builds strong connections with local educators, assists with after-school programming, and keeps the teen space vibrant and engaging.
Key Responsibilities School Outreach & Partnerships:
Conducting proactive outreach to all local schools across K-5 and K-12 spectrums to promote library services, foster community relationships, and host visiting school groups for library tours and specialized visits.
Patron Engagement:
Welcoming youth into the library, providing reference and reader's advisory, and assisting with technology and research.
After-School Support:
Supervising the Teen Room during peak after-school hours to maintain a safe, inclusive, and positive atmosphere.
Programming & Events:
Assisting in planning and executing youth and teen events, book clubs, craft activities, and summer reading initiatives.
Collection Care:
Maintaining teen room displays, shelving materials, and recommending new books, graphic novels, and media. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent (coursework in education, library science, or human services is a plus). Passion for working with youth (grades K-12) and understanding adolescent development needs. Demonstrated ability to conduct community outreach, give presentations to student groups, and host school tours. Strong communication, customer service, and organizational skills. Basic computer proficiency and familiarity with current pop culture, educational trends, or youth media. Ability to pass a background check. Physical Requirements & Working Conditions Ability to lift up to 25 lbs, push loaded book carts, and stand/walk for extended periods.
Pay:
$20.82 per hour Expected hours: 24.0
