Central Florida About the School We are a PreK3 through Grade 12 private independent school in Central Florida, situated on a 40-acre campus of oaks and native Florida woodland. The school day is divided into two equal parts: rigorous academic instruction in the morning, followed by practical arts, nature study, and experiential learning in the afternoon, including culinary arts, woodworking, agriculture, blacksmithing, leatherworking, and archery. Our approach is inspired by the work of Rudolf Steiner and grounded in Living Thinking, an educational philosophy that develops the whole person: head, heart, and hands. We seek to graduate young people who reason clearly, act with integrity and compassion, and are capable of meaningful, skilled work. The Position We seek a mathematics teacher who can make middle and high school mathematics comprehensible, relevant, and enduring for students. The ideal candidate possesses deep content knowledge, maintains a calm and orderly classroom, and consistently demonstrates the application of mathematics to real-world contexts. Responsibilities Instruction across Grades 6-12. Carry a full-time teaching load spanning middle school mathematics and upper school courses, including Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, Trigonometry, Precalculus, and Calculus. Real-world application. Connect mathematical concepts to daily life and to the school's practical arts curriculum, including measurement and angles in woodworking, ratios and scaling in culinary arts, data analysis and yields in agriculture, and principles of personal finance. Classroom leadership. Establish clear routines and high expectations from the first day, sustaining the engagement of the full class while challenging advanced students and supporting those still developing foundational skills. Academic habits and assessment. Implement consistent homework and practice routines, assess student progress regularly, and maintain accurate, current grades and student records. Culture of intellectual achievement. Cultivate a classroom environment in which academic excellence is valued and students are motivated to advance their mathematical proficiency. Communication and collaboration. Keep parents and guardians informed through clear and timely communication, and collaborate with colleagues to ensure curricular alignment across grade levels. Admissions support. Assist with mathematics placement assessments for incoming students and participate in faculty discussions regarding new applicants. Professional growth. Participate in ongoing individual mentoring, weekly faculty meetings, and the school's annual summer teacher training. Schedule Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., August through May. Weekly faculty meetings are held from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., and attendance at all calendared school events is required. Summer teacher training takes place the week following the last day of school and is fully funded by the school. Qualifications Bachelor's degree required; a degree in mathematics, mathematics education, or a related field is preferred. Thorough command of mathematics through Calculus, with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly. Classroom teaching experience at the middle or high school level, with demonstrated proficiency in classroom management. Experience in a Steiner-inspired school, or a sincere interest in learning the Living Thinking approach (training is provided). Clear, professional communication skills and the emotional maturity to contribute positively and reliably to a close-knit faculty. Proficiency with standard digital tools, including Google Workspace and Microsoft Office. A commitment to long-term service; we invest substantially in our faculty and hope the successful candidate will make our school their professional home. Why Join Our Faculty The opportunity to teach mathematics in a school where students also build, cook, cultivate, and create, providing daily real-world connections for your instruction. Thoughtful, capable, and collegial faculty dedicated to the future of education. Individual mentoring and funded professional development. A beautiful, nature-rich campus and a growing school community. A competitive salary of $50,000-$58,000 per year.
