Job Statement:

The STEM Academic Coach is a part of the operations team and helps to support the school's mission and commitment to delivering high-quality, fully online educational programs. The Academic Coach is to provide excellent customer service to our students. This position is primarily responsible for providing comprehensive academic support through an asynchronous ticketing system, addressing various academic inquiries and challenges for middle and high school programs. The role also includes responding to admissions calls and offering immediate assistance to prospective students as needed. Additionally, this role may be called upon to serve as the subject matter expert in a designated area of expertise, contributing to the academic success and retention of students.

Position Summary:

STEM Academic Coach Excel Education Systems is seeking applicants for a full-time STEM Academic Coach position. The person in this position is part of the school operations team that supports students in their academic journey toward graduation. The STEM Academic Coach will be responsible for supporting students in various Science, math, and STEM courses including but not limited to standard courses, honors-level courses, and AP Courses. Experience with AP instruction is preferred.

Reports to:

Director of Academics and Curriculum Responsibilities Include:

Asynchronous Support Management:

• Serve as the first point of contact for academic support inquiries submitted through the ticketing system, ensuring timely and effective resolutions.
• Analyze and categorize incoming tickets to prioritize responses based on urgency and complexity.
• Develop and maintain a knowledge base of frequently asked questions and their resolutions to enhance the efficiency and quality of support.
• Support the student journey, as needed, including students with files from the previous systems.
• Other support duties, as assigned.

Admissions Support:

• Respond to admissions-related calls, providing accurate and helpful information to prospective students about programs, application processes, and enrollment procedures as needed.
• Respond to chat messages from the website and texting system.

Subject Matter Expertise:

• Act as the subject matter expert in a specified academic field, offering guidance and support to students and faculty within this domain.
• Stay updated with the latest developments in the subject area to provide accurate and current advice.
• Collaborate with academic departments to identify trends in student inquiries and develop strategies to address common challenges.

AP experience is strongly preferred. Additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Education, Math, Science or a related field from an accredited college or university is required. A current state teaching license is required for this position.
• College Board AP Certification, or experience teaching an AP science or math course is a plus.
• Minimum 3 years teaching experience and experience with online learning/learning systems required.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience working with teen and adult learners and students from diverse backgrounds.
• Knowledgeable in human dynamics: Understanding the needs and challenges of online students.
• Strong telephone communication skills: Connecting with students and addressing their needs.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and a customer-focused mindset.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Starting Salary:

$60,000 - $65,000/year + benefits.
