POSITION SUMMARY
Provide rigorous, engaging, standards-based instruction that promotes academic achievement, critical thinking, and college, career, military, and life readiness. Establish a positive, inclusive classroom environment that supports student growth and success.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Plan and deliver standards-based instruction aligned with New Mexico standards and district curriculum. Develop engaging lessons that promote critical thinking, collaboration, communication, creativity, and problem-solving. Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners. Maintain a safe, respectful, and supportive classroom environment. Assess student learning, monitor progress, and use data to inform instruction. Maintain accurate attendance, grades, and student records. Support graduation, college, career, and postsecondary readiness. Participate in MLSS, SAT, IEP, 504, PLC, and other student support or professional meetings as assigned. Communicate effectively with students, parents/guardians, colleagues, and administrators. Collaborate with school staff to support student achievement and school improvement. Maintain professional competence and comply with district policies, NMPED requirements, FERPA, and applicable laws. Attend required meetings, professional development, and school functions. Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Valid NMPED Teaching License with the appropriate endorsement(s) for the assigned content area and grade level. Proper certification/endorsement for all assigned subject areas. Knowledge of secondary instructional practices, curriculum, assessment, classroom management, and adolescent development. Ability to establish positive relationships with students, families, and staff. Strong communication, collaboration, professionalism, and ethical conduct. Bilingual endorsement preferred or required based on assignment.
SALARY & EMPLOYMENT
Employment terms and salary are established annually through the district employment contract, school calendar, and approved salary schedule. Española Public Schools is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
