•About the Role Are you an enthusiastic educator who loves creativity, hands-on learning, and inspiring young minds? We are looking for a dynamic and engaging instructor to lead two after-school enrichment programs for elementary students. One program focuses on 2D and 3D visual arts and creative expression, while the other brings beloved children's books to life through storytelling, movement, interactive activities, and hands-on crafts. The ideal candidate is creative, energetic, patient, and passionate about working with children. Clay Creations and Crafty Book Club About Our Programs Crafty Book Club Bring beloved children's books to life through read-alouds, movement, discussions, games, and playful activities. Guide students through hands-on, story-inspired crafts that build imagination, creativity, and early literacy skills. Clay Creations Explore the world of clay through hands-on hand-building techniques while creating fun, functional projects like coasters, pumpkins, and bowls. Discover texture, form, and color through painting, glazing, and sensory exploration while building creativity and artistic skills.
Qualifications and Skills The Personality:
A fun, high-energy, and engaging individual who can motivate and build trust with elementary-aged students after the school day ends.
The Background:
Experience in elementary education, visual arts, drawing, painting, or sculpting and reading.
The Mindset:
A passion for encouraging creativity, artistic techniques, and self-expression while maintaining a safe, structured, and inclusive classroom environment.
The Soft Skills:
Patience, empathy, adaptability, and top-notch communication skills with both kids and parents. Requirements Minimum 2 years of college education. At least 1 year of experience working with elementary-aged children. Ability to confidently manage a classroom of up to 20 students. Must be able to pass background checks and a TB test. Reliable transportation to commute to San Rafael, Marin County and surrounding areas. Ability to lift and carry art supplies (approximately 20-50 lbs. occasionally).
Compensation & Schedule Rate:
$25.00 to $32.00 per hour
