St. Joseph School Middle School English Language Arts (ELA) Teacher St. Joseph School, in Bristol, CT, a Catholic elementary school has an opening for a full-time Middle School English Language Arts Teacher for the 2026-2027 academic year. This position requires a dynamic teacher that can interact with and support the learning of Middle School students. The following is expected of the candidate:
Spiritual & Catholic Identity Faith Integration:
Incorporate Catholic values and Gospel teachings across all subject areas, not just during Religion class.
Liturgical Participation:
Lead daily classroom prayer, prepare students for school-wide liturgies, and accompany the class to weekly Mass.
Role Modeling:
Exemplify Christian living in and out of the classroom, fostering a "Christ-centered" environment.
Teach middle school English Language Arts following the AOH Office of Catholic Schools (OCS) curriculum standards.
Differentiated Instruction:
Modify teaching methods and materials to meet the diverse needs of students, including those with IEPs or 504 plans.
Lesson Planning:
Develop engaging, structured lesson plans that utilize various instructional materials and educational technology (e.g., Google Classroom, SMART boards).
Create a safe, disciplined, and "loving" learning environment that promotes student responsibility and self-esteem.
Behavioral Standards:
Establish clear expectations for student conduct in alignment with Archdiocesan policies.
Organization:
Maintain a visually stimulating and organized classroom that maximizes instructional time.
Assessment & Communication Progress Monitoring:
Conduct regular formative and summative assessments; maintain accurate records of grades, attendance, and student achievement.
Parent Partnership:
Maintain open, professional communication with families through conferences, emails, and progress reports.
Collaboration:
Participate in faculty meetings, grade-level planning, and school-wide committees. Minimum 2 years of successful classroom teaching. Bachelor's degree or Master's degree (preferred). Teacher certification in content area. Demonstrated ability to create engaging, age-appropriate lessons. Commitment to fostering a nurturing, inclusive, and faith-based environment. Practicing Catholic in good standing with his/her parish.
