Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Afterschool Lead Teacher to oversee and enrich our afterschool programs. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment for children, fostering their social, emotional, and educational development. This role requires strong classroom management skills, experience working with children, and a passion for supporting childhood growth through various activities. The Afterschool Lead Teacher will collaborate with staff and parents to ensure a positive experience for all students while implementing age-appropriate curriculum and behavior management strategies. Responsibilities Plan and implement engaging afterschool activities that promote learning, creativity, and social skills. Manage classroom behavior to maintain a safe and respectful environment using effective behavior management techniques. Supervise children during indoor and outdoor activities, ensuring their safety at all times. Collaborate with other staff members to develop curriculum plans aligned with developmental standards. Communicate regularly with parents regarding children's progress, behavior, and any concerns. Maintain accurate attendance records and ensure compliance with program policies. Provide first aid when necessary, following safety protocols to address minor injuries or health issues. Support children with special needs or individualized education plans (IEPs) as required. Foster a positive environment that encourages respect, kindness, and inclusivity among children. Participate in ongoing professional development related to early childhood education, behavior management, or specialized areas such as Christian counseling or theater. Experience Prior experience working with children in educational, childcare, camp, tutoring, or daycare settings is preferred. Demonstrated classroom management skills and experience implementing behavior management strategies. Knowledge of childhood development principles and early childhood education best practices. Experience in specialized areas such as special education, sports coaching, babysitting, theater arts, or Christian counseling is a plus. Certification in first aid and CPR is desirable but not required; training can be provided if necessary. Previous roles involving tutoring or teaching young children will be considered an asset.
