JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Summary The Education Programs Technician is responsible for supporting the Department of Education, Docent Community, and the Museum at large through the preparation of educational facilities and assets for program execution during the school week. The Education Programs Technician is a facilities staffer that continually works toward making the Museum a unique and pleasant learning environment. This full-time at-will employee is supervised by the Director of Education, with supplementary management by the Director of Business Operations. The position assists in coordinating the Museum's volunteer Docent Council and education programs in partnership with the Director of Education. The position works with other staff and committees in support of all museum exhibits, programs, and services. This position is paid on an hourly basis and is subject to the overtime provisions of federal and state wage and hour laws. This job will be for 15 hours a week, three hours a day, days dependent on programming needs. Typical Duties 1. Serves as the primary facilities employee for the Pioneer Village, Calaveras School House, Gold Camp, and Sunshine Trail at the San Joaquin County Historical Museum; unlocks and opens facilities, inspects for and addresses cleanliness concerns, and maintains operational usability. 2. Supports the Director of Education and Docent Council in preparing stations for educational programs. 3. Maintains an inventory of educational facilities assets; notifies Director of Education and Director of Business Operations when supplies or other assets run low. 4. Provides auxiliary support for setting up for museum events, including but not limited to Tractor Fest and the Festival of Trees. 5. Other tasks as required. Job Requirements
Commitment to San Joaquin County, personal growth, and education.
Three or more years of responsible work in education, museum programming, visitor services, of facilities management, or custodial work.
Ability to establish and maintain productive, cordial working relationships, and communicate orally and in writing in English with a wide variety of staff, volunteers, educators, and community members.
Communicate effectively in the English language, with excellent writing and editing skills.
Strong problem solving skills, solutions creation, and systems management.
Regular, reliable and punctual attendance.
Understand and apply pertinent personnel policies, laws, rules, and regulations.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher. Skills with Adobe Publisher, Photoshop, and online product Canva preferred.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and demonstrate flexibility. Experience completing short and long term projects with the ability to create and meet deadline goals.
Must be able to lift 40 lbs.
Valid California driver's license and current effective insurance coverage required.
