Job Description

Job Summary The Manatee County Agricultural Museum preserves our county's rich agricultural heritage by developing exhibits and programming that focus on the County's primary commodities such as livestock, vegetables, citrus, horticulture and commercial fishing. The museum features displays of tools, equipment, photographs and exhibits that help interpret our agrarian history. The Supervisor I/Ag Museum position is a full-time, supervisory position that reports to the Director of Historical Resources. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in specific field of endeavor or 4 years of recent and relevant experience in the history field, museum field, or related fields. Ability to learn and apply Clerk's Office policy and organizational culture Demonstrates knowledge of local and institutional history 4 years of recent and relevant experience that demonstrates the ability to apply acute attention to detail in maintenance of detailed data, preferably in an automated systems environment Basic mathematical aptitude, as well as alpha and numeric filing skills required Must be able to operate general office equipment Demonstrates supervisory and leadership knowledge or competency Professional oral and written communication skills Computer literacy which includes, but is not limited to, proficiency in Microsoft Windows suite Must possess a valid Florida driver's license Organizational Values Along with the satisfactory performance of this job's essential functions, the employee in this position is expected to actively and consistently demonstrate the core values of the Clerk's Office. Provides excellent customer service to all in person, in email and over the phone; is approachable, helpful and personable; and answers questions knowledgeably and with patience Consistently enforces museum policies in a professional and customer-focused manner Along with other staff, create, implement, and evaluate museum activities Holds staff accountable for practicing and demonstrating our organizational values, Clerk policies & procedures as well as demonstrates leadership qualities by embracing and acting in accordance with those values, policies and procedures Works effectively on a small team; open to learning, able to take constructive feedback and takes responsibility for their own actions, work, and opinions Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and well while meeting deadlines Assists with all aspects of volunteer recruitment, retention, and direction Assists with all aspects of educational programming, special events, and visitor experience Oversees and assists with all operations of facility, including maintenance, construction, restoration, emergency preparedness, grounds/garden maintenance, and ongoing custodial duties Responsible for staffing, retention, development, training and performance management of site staff Sets priorities and allocates staff and other resources to meet needs in a timely, effective manner, and establishes and maintains staff and work schedules to meet coverage needs Conducts regular staff meetings to disseminate information, communicate policies, goals and procedures Creates and maintains site procedures Coordinates appropriate measures to implement procedural changes which affect the site and/or department Plans and manages site budget Provides administrative assistance and administers nonprofit purchasing policy for the nonprofit group assigned to this site Oversees the maintenance of artifacts donated to the site and nonprofit group Conducts community outreach to promote historic site and encourage public participation in historic preservation Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this job, including weekends and occasional evenings

Thinking critically; defined as reading, understanding and taking appropriate action on detailed and complex information Maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information in accordance with the Clerk's Office policies and applicable law Ability to hear ordinary conversation and office sounds Sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time Repetitive actions/motion of one or both hands Verbal communication in person and on the phone Written communication by hand and on PC Ability to bend/squat/kneel Ability to lift 25 lbs. and push/pull 40 lbs. in a cart
