Job Description

SUMMARY Hourly rate $18.22 This is a Part-Time Technical, Support, Clerical and Maintenance position.

Position Summary Supports the daily operation and organization of Art Department studios and gallery spaces. Assists with clay preparation, kiln operations, equipment maintenance, workshops, exhibits, and studio supplies. This position is limited to no more than 19 hours per week.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare, mix, and process clay and related materials for studio and enrichment classes. Load, unload, fire, and monitor high- and low-fire kilns. Operate and maintain studio equipment, including mixers, pug mills, and slab rollers. Maintain clean, safe, and organized studio spaces and equipment. Inventory clay, glaze chemicals, and other studio materials and supplies. Assist students and faculty with clay workshops and studio activities. Support gallery exhibits through preparation, pedestal placement, artwork installation, and exhibit setup. Assist with receptions, recruiting workshops, and other Art Department events. Move materials, supplies, equipment, and exhibit components as needed. Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or
GED. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Associate's degree in Art. Bilingual - English/Spanish (Speak)
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of clay preparation, kiln operation, and temperature regulation. Ability to operate studio equipment, including mixers, pug mills, slab rollers, and pottery wheels. Ability to safely handle and transport studio materials and chemicals. Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds. Strong organizational skills and ability to maintain clean and safe studio spaces.
