$12.77/hr Job Summary/Basic Functions A research and publication aide with the Papers of James Monroe engages in various research, editorial, archival, data processing, office, and other tasks as necessary under the direction of the editor. Primary responsibilities include transcription of nineteenth-century handwritten documents (reading original cursive texts to produce digital typescripts). Required KSAs/Competencies/Qualifications Fluency in the reading of cursive. Proficiency in word processing (MS Word), digital file management (SharePoint and Teams), and online search (Google). Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Good communication skills. Openness to direction. Meticulous attention to detail.

Must be currently enrolled as a UMW undergraduate.

KSAs Genuine interest in history, archives, publishing, or a related field. Sense of urgency for project objectives and responsibility for assigned sphere. Curiosity and capacity to learn and grow. Commitment to highest standard of scholarly work. Availability to work on campus 6-10 hours each week between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
