Job Description
Overview Join us as the La Pointe-Krebs (LPK) House and Museum Administrator, a dynamic role dedicated to preserving and sharing a vital piece of local history. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to lead museum operations, engage with diverse audiences, and foster community connections through innovative programs and meticulous collection management. As the cornerstone of our organization, you will champion educational initiatives, oversee fundraising efforts, and ensure the museum's vibrant legacy continues to inspire visitors of all ages. Duties Manage daily museum operations, including visitor services, educational programs, and special events to create engaging experiences for diverse audiences. Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies, including grant proposal writing and donor outreach, to support museum initiatives and preservation projects. Lead social media management efforts by creating compelling content that promotes exhibitions, programs, and community engagement across digital platforms. Coordinate educational activities tailored for children and classroom groups, fostering a love of history through interactive teaching and storytelling. Prepare budgets, monitor expenses, and ensure efficient resource allocation aligned with organizational goals. Conduct historical research to support exhibitions, publications, and educational materials that highlight the significance of the site's heritage. Supervise staff and volunteers by providing team management leadership, training in customer service excellence, and fostering a collaborative work environment. Skills Proven experience in museum or historic site administration with strong knowledge of collection care and cataloging practices. Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail. Excellent communication skills for public speaking engagements, presentations, grant writing, and community outreach. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) along with database management systems relevant to collections or nonprofit organizations. Experience working with children in educational or classroom settings; ability to develop engaging curriculum-based programs. Strong research skills with an eye for historical accuracy and context to enhance exhibits and publications. Demonstrated success in fundraising activities including grant proposal writing and donor relations within nonprofit arts or cultural organizations. Ability to manage budgets effectively while ensuring compliance with organizational policies. Knowledge of social media management tools for content creation and audience engagement across platforms such as Facebook, Instagram or Twitter. Skilled in public speaking and presentation delivery to diverse audiences ranging from school groups to community stakeholders.
