Overview We are seeking an engaging and student-centered Elective Music Teacher with a strong background or interest in music education. The ideal candidate will create meaningful learning experiences that foster creativity, musical expression, music appreciation, collaboration, and confidence in students. This position provides students with opportunities to explore music through hands-on instruction, creative projects, performances, and other engaging learning experiences while developing a lifelong appreciation for music and the arts. Responsibilities Teach elective music courses to students across elementary and middle school grade levels Create an interactive, inclusive, and culturally responsive music classroom environment Develop engaging, hands-on music lessons that support creativity, musical expression, and appreciation Incorporate singing, instrumental music, music-making, performances, projects, and other creative activities as appropriate Encourage creativity, self-expression, collaboration, confidence, and artistic growth Differentiate music instruction to support diverse learning styles, developmental levels, and abilities Provide opportunities for students to showcase their learning through performances, assemblies, concerts, or school-wide events when appropriate Foster a positive classroom culture and maintain effective classroom management Monitor and maintain student progress and classroom records Collaborate with staff, families, and administration to support student success Contribute to a school environment that values creativity, inclusion, and whole-child development Qualifications VALID California Single Subject Teaching Credential Prior classroom experience working with children across elementary and middle school levels Preferred Qualifications Background in music education, vocal music, instrumental music, or a related arts discipline Experience teaching music, fine arts, enrichment, or elective courses Experience directing student performances, concerts, assemblies, or showcases Ability to develop and deliver music instruction across multiple grade levels Experience with project-based learning and creative instructional practices Strong communication, collaboration, and classroom management skills Passion for helping students develop confidence and a lifelong appreciation for music Benefits Dental insurance Health insurance Vision insurance
