Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a passionate and energetic Guitar Teacher to inspire adolescent/high school students at a beginner level in mastering the basic skills of guitar playing. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to foster musical growth, develop creative talents, and cultivate a love for music through engaging lessons. The ideal candidate will bring a vibrant teaching style, a strong background in music education, and the ability to connect with students in a dynamic learning environment. Your role will be instrumental in guiding students through technical skills, musical expression, and performance techniques, all while creating an encouraging and fun atmosphere. We are looking for 2 instructors to teach a 10 session (1 hour a session) beginner guitar group of adolescents/high schoolers one day a week for a community program with a non-profit organization. It's $35 a lesson (for each instructor) and it is located in Daytona Beach at a private school. At the end of the 10 sessions, the students are expected to play a song at a community event showcasing what they have learned. The group will have no more than 14 kids and would be split among the two instructors. Responsibilities Design and deliver comprehensive guitar lessons tailored to a small group of students once a week for 1 hour Develop engaging curricula that incorporate technical skills, music theory, improvisation, and performance techniques Foster a positive learning environment by managing classroom behavior and encouraging student participation Incorporate elements of visual arts, performance arts, choreography, and dance instruction when relevant to enhance musical education Collaborate with other instructor in preparation of one community performance at the end of the 10 sessions Skills Extensive knowledge of guitar techniques, music theory, and instrumental performance Experience developing curriculum for adolescents/high schoolers at the beginning level (books will be provided based on instructor's choice) Strong classroom management skills with the ability to engage students effectively Background working with children and youth programs teaching experience in creative arts instruction Familiarity with performance-based teaching methods Excellent communication skills for working with students of varying ages and backgrounds Knowledge of childhood development principles and behavior management strategies This role is perfect for someone eager to share their passion for music while nurturing creativity.
