We are seeking Early Childhood Ballet Instructors to teach students from Toddler through Kindergarten. Our early-childhood program introduces young dancers to ballet through developmentally appropriate instruction that combines movement, music, imagination, and gradually increasing structure. We are looking for instructors who combine a strong foundation in ballet with the warmth, patience, creativity, and classroom-management skills necessary to teach young children successfully. The Early Childhood Program Our curriculum progresses with students as they develop physically, socially, and cognitively.

Toddler Primary goal:

Discover the joy of movement Classes emphasize: Music and movement Imitation and imaginative play Gross-motor development Balance and coordination Rhythm and musical awareness Simple ballet concepts Comfort participating in a dance-class environment Lessons use short activities, repetition, imagery, storytelling, music, and age-appropriate props to keep children engaged.

Preschool Primary goal:

Develop confident, independent participation Students begin developing: Coordination and body awareness Rhythm and musicality Spatial awareness Simple ballet positions and vocabulary Following directions and movement sequences Classroom independence Creative expression Classes remain imaginative and playful while gradually introducing greater structure.

Pre-K Primary goal:

Build ballet readiness Students progress toward: Foundational ballet vocabulary Posture and alignment awareness Balance and coordination Musicality and rhythm Movement sequencing Spatial awareness Greater control and intentionality of movement Confidence participating independently in class Creative movement remains an important teaching tool while recognizable ballet-class structure begins to emerge.

Kindergarten Primary goal:

Prepare students for formal ballet training Students are introduced to increasingly structured ballet instruction emphasizing: Foundational positions and movements Ballet terminology Posture and alignment Musicality Coordination and balance Center exercises and introductory barre concepts when developmentally appropriate Movement combinations and sequencing Ballet classroom etiquette Independence, focus, and confidence The goal is for students to complete the early-childhood program socially, physically, and developmentally prepared to transition into Ponte Vedra Ballet's formal ballet curriculum. Responsibilities Early Childhood Ballet Instructors will: Teach assigned ballet and creative-movement classes for children from Toddler through Kindergarten. Deliver Ponte Vedra Ballet's early-childhood curriculum consistently across assigned levels. Prepare developmentally appropriate lessons within the curriculum framework. Introduce ballet fundamentals through music, imagery, storytelling, games, repetition, and creative movement. Maintain clear and predictable classroom routines while creating an encouraging and joyful atmosphere. Adapt instruction to different developmental abilities, personalities, and learning styles. Manage transitions, varying attention spans, separation challenges, and young-child behavior calmly and positively. Encourage confidence, independence, creativity, and positive interaction among students. Observe student development and appropriately increase expectations as children progress. Communicate warmly and professionally with parents and caregivers. Collaborate with other early-childhood instructors and ballet faculty to maintain consistency between classes and levels. Help ensure students are prepared for progression into the next level of the curriculum. Follow studio policies, curriculum standards, safeguarding practices, and safety procedures. Participate in applicable performances, demonstrations, faculty meetings, training, or special events associated with assigned classes. Who We're Looking For Strong candidates enjoy working with young children and understand that excellent early-childhood ballet instruction requires both creativity and structure. You should be able to make ballet engaging for a toddler while gradually introducing the focus, vocabulary, musicality, coordination, and classroom habits expected of a kindergarten student.

Strong candidates will demonstrate:

Genuine enthusiasm for teaching young children. Experience teaching or working with children approximately ages 2-6. A strong foundation in ballet or dance. Particularly Valuable Experience Relevant backgrounds may include: Early-childhood ballet instruction Ballet teaching or training Creative-movement education Preschool or early-childhood education Children's gymnastics or movement programs Music-and-movement education Children's theater or performing arts Advanced ballet training is valuable, but successful candidates must also demonstrate the ability to communicate with, engage, and teach young children effectively. Team Approach Ponte Vedra Ballet's early-childhood program is taught through a collaborative faculty model . Instructors work from a shared curriculum and teaching standards while bringing their own warmth, creativity, and personality to the classroom. Faculty collaboration helps create consistency for students as they progress between instructors, class times, and levels. Instructors may teach multiple levels depending on experience, availability, and program needs. Schedule Part-time Teaching assignments may include weekday mornings, afternoons, and/or Saturdays based on enrollment, program needs, and instructor availability. Compensation Competitive hourly compensation based on teaching experience, early-childhood expertise, dance background, and assigned schedule.
