Job Description

You're a musician who believes learning music should be fun, creative, and something students genuinely look forward to. You bring good energy into the room, connect naturally with students of all ages, and know how to create a safe, encouraging environment where students feel comfortable experimenting, making mistakes, and finding their own musical voice. At Zuwalla School of Music , we believe music education should be about more than simply learning to read notes or play the "right" way. We create an environment where students can learn through hands-on experience, experimentation, and self-expression — because sometimes the best way to learn music is to actually play it. What makes Zuwalla different is that students aren't on their musical journey alone. Through open mics, jam sessions, and opportunities to play alongside other musicians , we create a community where students can experience the joy of making music together. Your Role As a Zuwalla Music Teacher, you'll work with students of different ages, experience levels, and musical interests. You'll help students build foundational skills while encouraging curiosity, creativity, and a genuine love of playing music. You'll be more than an instructor — you'll be a positive mentor who helps students discover what they enjoy about music and gives them the confidence to explore it. In this position, you'll: Create a safe, welcoming, and encouraging learning environment for students. Teach students of all ages and experience levels with patience, enthusiasm, and positivity. Develop lessons that incorporate hands-on learning, experimentation, and self-expression. Encourage students to explore their own musical interests and develop their individual style. Help students work through challenges without making them feel discouraged or pressured. Prepare students to participate in Zuwalla's open mics, jam sessions, and other musical experiences. Encourage students to play and learn alongside other musicians as part of the Zuwalla community. Bring creativity and out-of-the-box thinking to lessons rather than relying solely on traditional teaching methods. Communicate effectively with students and families about progress, goals, and opportunities for growth. Work alongside other Zuwalla teachers and musicians to create a collaborative and inspiring music community. You're the
Right Person If You're:
A talented and passionate musician who genuinely enjoys sharing music with others. Great with kids of all ages — this is a high priority for us. Friendly, warm, energetic, and someone who naturally brings good vibes into a room. Creative and comfortable thinking outside the box. Patient, encouraging, and able to meet students where they are. Excited by the idea of teaching music through experimentation and hands-on learning. Comfortable encouraging students to express themselves rather than simply teaching them to follow instructions. A strong communicator who can connect with both students and their families. Excited about playing music with others and being part of a musical community. Comfortable teaching students with different personalities, learning styles, and musical goals. Experience & Qualifications Preferred, but not required: Degree in music, music education, or a related field. Previous music teaching experience. 2+ years of experience performing live music. Experience playing and/or teaching a wide range of instruments, such as: Guitar Keyboard/Piano Drums Bass Voice Band and Orchestra instruments Other instruments are a plus! We're especially interested in musicians who have experience across multiple instruments and musical styles. A diverse musical background can be a great asset in helping students explore different ways of making and experiencing music. Most importantly, we're looking for the right person, not just a list of credentials. If you're an experienced musician who loves working with kids, brings positive energy, and believes music should be fun, creative, and accessible, we'd love to hear from you.
