Job Description

Vocal Instructor (Substitute / Flexible Schedule) School of Rock Arlington Heights School of Rock Arlington Heights is looking for a versatile and dependable Vocal Instructor to join our team in a flexible substitute teaching role. This position is ideal for a strong vocalist who enjoys teaching students of all ages and can step in to cover lessons and rehearsals as needed. Our instructors teach in a performance-based environment that combines one-on-one instruction with group rehearsals and live shows. We are looking for someone who is not only a skilled singer, but also energetic, organized, and comfortable adapting quickly to different students and schedules. Responsibilities Teach private vocal lessons to students of varying ages and skill levels Occasionally assist with group rehearsals and performance programs Step in as a substitute instructor when regular teachers are unavailable Help students develop healthy vocal technique, pitch, rhythm, stage presence, and confidence Create a positive, engaging, and encouraging lesson environment Communicate professionally with staff, students, and parents Maintain punctuality and preparedness for scheduled lessons Requirements Strong vocal ability and musicianship Ability to teach contemporary styles including rock, pop, alternative, and related genres Flexible availability and willingness to accept substitute teaching opportunities on short notice Experience teaching music lessons OR experience performing regularly in bands/live music settings Reliable transportation and strong communication skills Comfortable working with children, teens, and adults Preferred Qualifications Previous teaching experience Multi-instrumental ability is a plus (especially piano or guitar for vocal accompaniment) Experience with live performance and stage coaching Familiarity with School of Rock programs or similar music education environments Schedule Flexible / Part-Time Substitute-based scheduling with opportunities for recurring weekly students over time Evening and weekend availability required About School of Rock School of Rock is the leader in performance-based music education.
