Job Description

Light of Chance is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering youth and communities through the arts and wellness. Our community youth arts program provides students in grades 5-12, as well as adults, with opportunities to explore and develop their talents in music, dance, visual arts, and creative expression in a supportive and inclusive environment.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Music Instructor to lead engaging and educational music sessions for youth (grades 5-12) and adults. The ideal candidate will have experience working with diverse populations, a strong background in music instruction (instrumental and/or vocal), and the ability to inspire creativity and confidence in participants.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and lead music instruction sessions, including vocal, instrumental, and/or music production lessons. Develop age-appropriate curriculum and activities that foster creativity, skill development, and appreciation for music. Work with students of varying skill levels, from beginners to advanced musicians. Encourage self-expression and confidence through music while maintaining a positive and inclusive learning environment. Collaborate with program staff to integrate music with other artistic disciplines in performances, showcases, and community events. Support and mentor students in their artistic growth, goal setting, and potential career pathways in music. Maintain attendance records, progress reports, and provide feedback to participants and parents/guardians when applicable. Assist in program outreach and engagement efforts to recruit and retain participants. Ensure a safe and respectful environment for all participants.
Qualifications :
Proven experience teaching music to youth and/or adults in a group or individual setting. Proficiency in at least one musical instrument and/or vocal instruction; music production experience is a plus. Ability to develop lesson plans that cater to diverse learning styles and abilities. Strong communication and classroom management skills. Passion for arts education and community engagement. Ability to work collaboratively with a team and contribute to a creative learning environment. Experience working with diverse populations, including underrepresented communities, is preferred..
