Department Music Position Type Exempt Employment Status Term Salary Minimum•$60,523.00 per 9 months Open Date 11/10/2025 Close Date Open Until Filled No Effective Date of Employment Position Summary Information Job Description Summary The Choral Director is responsible for the development and growth of effective choral ensembles. The Choral Director will demonstrate an excellence in musicianship, in teaching and conducting choral music at the college level, while also demonstrating knowledge of vocal and choral pedagogy. The Choral Music Director is responsible in working collaboratively with the department, while also maintaining relationships with members of the area school districts and the choral community. Required Job Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Ability to demonstrate conducting, musicianship skills and knowledge in choral technique and in choral repertoire of various styles and time periods. Successful experience using instructional technologies. Ability to recruit; ability to work with existing faculty to arrange recruitment and retention activities. Knowledge of Choral repertoire; thorough knowledge of and skill in rehearsal and conducting techniques. Ability to form and maintain relationships with those in the music community. Minimum Qualifications Master's degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Music with emphasis in Choral Conducting Preferred Qualifications One or more years experience conducting choir at the college level. Job Duties Job Duty Conduct/Teaching Concert Choir, Chamber Singers, Master Chorus (community chorus) Make continuous effort to advance the quality of instruction. Create course curriculum, course syllabi and other course materials required to deliver course information in a clear manner, facilitating a clear understanding between students and instructor of the content, goals, requirements, expectations of the class, including a schedule of additional rehearsals and performances. Ensure students are engaged with the course material to achieve the course learning outcomes. Create course rubrics to assess each student's performance related to the course's learning objective and to identify areas for student improvement. Assist students to master course material by being available during office hours or by scheduling student conferences to answer questions and assist students in being successful in the course. Assign grades and maintain course/student records in accordance with FERPA regulations and submit grades and records by established deadlines. Demonstrate ability to manage effective, friendly, and civil working relationships with staff, faculty, current and prospective students, members of the community and choral community, alumni, guests and other colleagues. Participate in the self-evaluation process, establishing goals and objectives which may include personal and professional development plans in consultation with department chair. Participate in scheduled institutional activities. Participate in activities required to maintain program and College accreditation standards. Maintain the choral library and inventory. Job Duty Make recruitment visits to area schools, help coordinate recruitment and retention activities with existing faculty, represent college at area and state events, publicize and organize performances. Job Duty Perform other appropriate and reasonably required duties as needed by the department.
