Our immediate priority is violin and viola instruction, and we also welcome applications from teachers specializing in piano, voice, drums, guitar, cello, woodwinds, brass, and other instruments. We are looking for musicians who enjoy teaching, communicate thoughtfully with families, and value a consistent, long-term relationship with their students.
THE OPPORTUNITY
For violin and viola teachers, we have existing students awaiting placement, with an immediate need for Saturday and Sunday availability. Please provide your specific availability for both days. Teachers of other instruments are welcome to apply for opportunities based on student demand and mutually agreed schedules. Teaching hours will depend on enrollment and confirmed lesson assignments. Lessons take place in person at our McKinney school.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Teach individual lessons tailored to each student's age, experience, and goals. Develop strong technique, musicianship, and effective practice habits. Provide clear lesson notes, practice assignments, and constructive feedback. Communicate professionally with students, parents, and school administrators. Maintain a dependable teaching schedule and arrive prepared and on time. Communicate scheduling conflicts in advance and coordinate any necessary changes with the school. Support students preparing for performances, auditions, or examinations when appropriate. Help maintain a welcoming, organized learning environment.
QUALIFICATIONS
Strong performance skills in your primary instrument or voice. A degree in music, current study toward a music degree, or equivalent professional experience. Previous teaching experience preferred, particularly with children and teenagers. Patience, clear communication, and the ability to adapt instruction to different learning styles. Reliable transportation and the ability to attend lessons consistently in McKinney. Interest in building a lasting teaching relationship with students and the school. For our immediate string opening, the ability to teach both violin and viola is especially welcome.
COMPENSATION AND SUPPORT
Violin and viola teaching compensation starts at $40 per teaching hour. Compensation for other specialties will be discussed based on qualifications, experience, and the position. School support with student inquiries, scheduling, billing, and parent administration. Opportunities to grow your teaching schedule as enrollment develops. A collaborative environment with fellow music educators. We are seeking teachers interested in an initial collaboration of at least one year. Specific terms, scheduling expectations, and transition responsibilities will be discussed together and documented in a written agreement before starting.
