Coordinate all activities involved with the color guard and winter guard including planning, recruiting, instructing, and budgeting.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Certification
High school diploma or GED
PAC Test or 48 college hours
Valid Texas educational aide certificate (or be willing to obtain)
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Detailed knowledge of the color guard program
Experience teaching and performing with color guard equipment
Detailed knowledge of the Texas Color Guard Circuit and UIL policies related to Color Guard
Ability to inspire students, building enthusiasm and love of Color Guard
Strong organizational and communication skills
Three years job related experience preferred
Dance teaching and education experience preferred
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Instructional Support
Responsible for the planning and daily classroom instruction of the color guard classes and rehearsals.
Responsible for the evaluation and grading of individual students.
Administration of the color guard program.
Coordinate any supplementary staff or clinicians for the year.
Responsible for all equipment, body strengthening and performance training.
Direct all rehearsals and performances.
Responsible for all recruiting at the intermediate and high school levels.
Work with head band director to formulate a budget for the year.
Work in conjunction with the high school band staff to develop marching show concepts and visual design.
Supervise color guard students, including travel, during games and competitions.
Oversee a process of cleaning, repairing, and storing all color guard equipment.
Create an environment conducive to learning and appropriate for physical, social, and emotional development of students.
Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers.
