Avalon School of Music

Piano Instructor Wylie, TX

Entry-Level JobVerifiedNo experience needed

Job Description

Avalon School of Music is a thriving music school with locations in Wylie and Allen, Texas. We're growing, and most of our current instructors are at capacity — so we're hiring talented piano instructors to take on our incoming students. New students enroll with us every week, and right now our existing teachers don't have the room to take them. Your schedule will be built from those incoming students, and in some cases from students transferring over from an instructor who's full. Most of the openings are at our Wylie location, with a few in Allen as well, so the best fit will be someone who can flex between our two studios. To be clear — you'll only teach at one location per day. We never require you to drive between locations in a single day. If you're scheduled in Wylie on a Tuesday and Allen on a Thursday, that's exactly how it stays. We teach students of all ages, from around 5 years old through adults, so the ideal candidate will be comfortable and experienced working with a wide range of learners. With over 500 students and growing, Avalon is a busy, welcoming place to build a rewarding teaching schedule. All of our lessons are private, one-on-one instruction, and each instructor has their own dedicated studio space. We encourage our teachers to tailor their materials and approach to each individual student, focusing on the areas where they need the most growth. Why Instructors Love Working at Avalon Paid for no-shows and late cancellations No tuition collection — all we ask you to do is teach! Steady supply of new students to keep your schedule full No non-compete agreement No driving between locations in a single day — your scheduled location for the day is your only stop Relaxed, fun atmosphere in a true music-school environment Paid onboard training and recitals (2x per year) Requirements Teaching experience is preferred, and a music degree is ideal. Significant playing or performing experience may be substituted for a degree, but candidates should have a solid working knowledge of music theory and sight reading and be able to demonstrate strong technical skills. We highly value excellent communication skills and the ability to make lessons engaging and fun for students. If you do not have extensive teaching experience, you will be asked to sight read sample music during the interview. Experience teaching students ages 5-12 is a big plus! Schedule & Availability We're looking for instructors who can teach on some or all of the following days: Monday through Saturday. Your schedule is based on your availability, and we do our best to fill it as much as you'll allow. Because we're assigning new enrollments as they come in, schedules here tend to build quickly. Compensation $30-$40 per hour, depending on experience. This is a 1099 independent contractor position. Pay is reviewed quarterly based on student count, retention, and conversion rates, with several opportunities for raises We have outstanding reviews on Google and take pride in putting the fun into every lesson.
