Full-Time Roster Building Compensation:
$54.00 per hour (Paid as 90% of collected student tuition) About Bellingham Helps Access Music (BHAM) Bellingham Helps Access Music (BHAM) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit facility located in downtown Bellingham, WA. Managed by leadership with nearly 30 years of industry experience, BHAM operates as a complete, vibrant music ecosystem. Beyond private lessons, our facility houses dedicated rehearsal spaces, an on-site stage, a recording studio, and hosts regular community events and showcases. We serve as a creative hub dedicated to filling critical gaps in local music infrastructure and making modern music education sustainable for teachers and accessible to students. Our programs focus heavily on modern genres—including Rock, Pop, Metal, Electronic, and Hip-Hop . We actively uphold a "Culture of Kindness" and a "Safe Space" policy to ensure our facility is inclusive and welcoming to all students.
The Opportunity:
Teach Within a Mission-Driven Community We are seeking an exceptional, dedicated vocal instructor who wants to teach within a thriving, full-service music ecosystem and build a long-term, full-time career in Bellingham. Ability or experience teaching guitar in addition to voice is a major bonus! You won't have to build your student roster alone—we work as a team to recruit, market, and match students to your schedule. We provide fully-equipped studio space, administrative support (including a Lessons Manager and scheduling software), and access to our broader facility resources so you can focus strictly on delivering exceptional instruction. Key Responsibilities Deliver 100% in-person, 1-on-1 top quality private vocal instruction at our Bellingham facility (with optional guitar instruction if qualified). Develop tailored, custom curriculums suited to each student's goals, skill level, and musical preferences rather than relying on rigid, standardized methods. Adapt instruction across multiple learning styles and age groups. Partner with BHAM leadership to grow and retain a full-time student roster. Maintain professional communication, including brief progress "check-ins" with parents or guardians at the conclusion of lessons. Ensure shared space etiquette by resetting your suite to a neutral state (winding cables, clearing personal items) at the end of your teaching block.
Requirements & Qualifications Teaching Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of private or group vocal instruction experience.
Instrument Expertise:
Minimum of 10+ years of playing and mastering your primary instrument(s)/voice (guitar teaching ability is a bonus).
Performance Background:
Live performance experience required; active performing musicians are strongly preferred.
Location:
Must live in or be able to commute to Bellingham, WA for on-site teaching.
Curriculum Design:
Demonstrated ability to craft custom lesson plans and teach across diverse learning styles.
Contractor Status:
Must be eligible to work as an independent contractor in Washington State.
Background Check:
Must pass a FULL background check to ensure student safety.
Professional Environment:
Must adhere to our standard drug-free and alcohol-free workplace policy and consent to teaching under continuous 24/7 video and audio supervision in each suite for safety.
