Job Description

Violin/Viola/Cello Instructor (Contract Position) Federal Way School of Music Federal Way, WA Job Details Contract From $45 an hour 19 hours ago Benefits Flexible schedule Qualifications Music Piano Experience working with children Working with students Classroom Teaching Full Job Description Are you a passionate and experienced independent music professional who teaches violin, viola, and cello and are looking to expand your teaching studio or in need of studio space for your teaching? Are you a degreed music major looking to teach outside of your college or recently graduated? The Federal Way School of Music is expanding and looking for people like you to join our team! For over 15 years, the Federal Way School of Music has been one of the Puget Sound's most trusted sources for music education! We are a private locally-owned music school comprised of credentialed and experienced music professionals. We are all focused on inspiring the next generation of musicians with a quality musical education! Above all, we attract high-level instructors because we value their talents and have excellent opportunities for instructors at our school. Teaching with us is competitive, flexible, has numerous benefits, and is fair for serious instructors. You'll be part of a community in a clean professional environment as opposed to the disconnect of in-home lesson organizations, online lesson databases, retail stores who advertise they are "schools" that view lessons only as marketing, and isolated home-based teaching studios. We have an onsite recital facility featuring a Steinway D Concert Grand piano, a stage for band practices and workshops, conference space for masterclasses and seminars, group classroom, and additional offsite performance opportunities within the community for your students! Doubling on another instrument or voice, playing more than one instrument professionally, knowing varied musical styles, and being fluent in different languages is a bonus for applicants!
Important criteria for applicants:
  • Professional music industry experience (prior experience running your own business), degreed students recently graduated are still encouraged to apply
  • A degree or certification in music or equivalent professional experience (i.e., touring, signed band, recording artist, etc)
  • You already have or can register to be a licensed independent teaching business in the State of Washington with a verified UBI#
  • If relevant to instrument, experience with grade school band, orchestra, and jazz programs and college music entry preparation
  • Prior experience in maintaining a professional lesson studio business and teaching
  • Reading standard music notation
  • Enjoys inspiring kids and working with diverse people with varied backgrounds, including adults and retirees
  • Focused on organization and cleanliness
  • Easy to work with and having a positive and likable attitude to create a great experience for students!
Please reply to this listing with a short resume or bio and any links to professional content online (i.e., your website, LinkedIn, social media, articles, etc). Due to a large number of inquiries, please understand we can only review and respond to applicants who provide detailed information, including a resume and/or website or LinkedIn profile, and have previous professional teaching experience or a degree. This is not a "learn on the job" type of position. Contract position only. Thank you!
