GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Under the direction of the Principal, the Long Term Sub Teacher (Physical Education) guides students in grades 1-6th in an environment that nurtures the children's academic, social, physical, emotional and spiritual needs; in an environment that challenges each child to reach his/her fullest potential, in accordance with the Montessori philosophy and California State Education curriculum benchmarks. Other duties may be assigned:

• Develop lesson plans and manage the learning experiences for students to ensure the needs of the groups and individual students are met.
• Assist students toward self-directed learning and normalization.
• Plan, track, evaluate and report the individual progress of the students.
• Organizes a daily lesson plan, with clear learning objectives.
• Maintain a neat, well-organized, and attractive prepared environment consistent with Montessori pedagogy.
• Participate in professional activities designated by the Principal, which may include workshops, curriculum development, retreats, meetings, grade reporting, planning, and other professional pursuits.
• Attend all pre-announced staff meetings and professional sessions, including staff, department, committee, and evening parent meetings.
• Work to develop close and effective relationships with families, including opportunities to discuss and understand the child's progress
• Provide individualized tracking (recordkeeping) of student progress through school-designated platforms
• Share in the rotation of arrival and dismissal responsibilities with other site staff.
