Position Overview:

Provides instruction and is responsible for student learning in a particular time period in dance

Typical Duties and Responsibilities:

Deliver engaging Physical Education and Health instruction that promotes lifelong fitness, healthy decision-making, teamwork, and student wellness. Plan and implement standards-aligned lessons that meet the diverse learning needs, interests, and abilities of middle school students. Create a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment that encourages responsibility, respect, participation, and personal growth. Assess student progress and provide meaningful feedback to support skill development and achievement of learning goals. Collaborate with families, colleagues, and support staff to promote student success while integrating technology and best instructional practices into teaching.

Minimum Requirements:

Must hold a valid Connecticut State Department of Education (CSDE) educator certificate with an endorsement in one or more of the following endorsement areas: 044 (PK-12) or as applicable.

Preferred Requirements:

Bilingual proficiency in Spanish or Haitian Creole highly desirable. Experience teaching diverse dance styles and choreographing for student performances. Background in arts integration or interdisciplinary collaboration within a performing arts setting. Strong classroom management skills and culturally responsive teaching practices.
