Summary of Duties Marywood University Department of Psychology and Counseling invites applications for a 12-month Clinical Services position beginning on or before January 1, 2027. The Director of the Psychological Services Center (PSC) position is a Clinical Faculty position with a renewable contract. The PSC is the training facility for our APA approved Psy.
D. program in Clinical Psychology, and our Master's in Clinical Psychology practicum students. The PSC provides quality, no cost, mental health services to the underserved in a state-of-the-art facility with nine treatment rooms. The PSC provides assessments and intervention services (individual, marital and family) for children, adolescents and adults. The PSC also provides numerous outreach services such as depression, anxiety, dementia and eating disorders screenings and attendance at various community health fairs. The PSC Director is responsible for oversight of the PSC, which includes establishing and refining the policies and procedures of the PSC; supervising students providing clinical services; and screening prospective clients. The PSC Director typically teaches three (3 credit) clinically related courses per year and one (1.5 credit) class introducing first-year students to clinical work. To summarize, this is a year long position with a 1-1.5-1 teaching load over the Fall, Spring and Summer semesters. The PSC Director is designated as a Core Clinical Faculty Member for the PsyD Program and is expected to attend monthly Department Meetings and monthly PsyD Faculty Meetings. There is the option for one day a week of the director's time to be allowed for clinical practice as we understand the importance of practice influencing education. Location Marywood University is a comprehensive Catholic university sponsored by the Congregation of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. The University resides in northeastern Pennsylvania within close proximity to the Pocono mountains and is approximately two hours from New York City and Philadelphia. The Department of Psychology and Counseling offers degrees in undergraduate psychology, master's psychology, CACREP approved School and Mental Health Counseling, School Psychology, and APA-accredited Psy.
D. in Clinical Psychology. Requirements The position requires a doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology from a program accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA). The successful applicant is expected to be licensed as a psychologist in Pennsylvania either at the point of hire or shortly thereafter. The applicant is expected to have a theoretical orientation consistent with the PsyD program training philosophy (CBT, Third-wave CBT or Integrative). The ideal candidate will possess excellent clinical and supervisory skills as well as strong organizational skills. Experience directing a clinic that treats patients on Medicaid is desirable, but not required.
