Description
GENERAL SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Director or Assistant Director of Nursing, the Unit Manager is responsible for the twenty-four hour management of his/her respective nursing unit. The Unit Manager is responsible for all administrative and professional working policies pertaining to his/her section, as well as supervising, coordinating, and delegating the clinical duties and other unit activities, in order to provide quality resident care. The Unit Manager must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the residents served on his/her unit - adult through geriatric. The Unit Manager must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span; possess the ability to assess data reflective of the resident's status; interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each resident's requirements relative to their age-specific needs; and to provide the care needed as described in the Nursing Department's policies and procedures.

EDUCATION
Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program required. Bachelor's degree from an accredited Nursing Program or Healthcare Management preferred.
WORK EXPERIENCE
Minimum of three (3) years work experience as a Registered Nurse in a Long Term Care or Med/ Surg setting required. Minimum of one (1) year supervisory experience required.
SPECIAL EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS
Must be cleared by PA State Police Criminal History Check. CPR Certification required or must be obtained and must be maintained. Possession of a current license as a Registered Nurse as issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nurse Examiners. Good management skills required. Good verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills required for effective interaction with staff, residents and visitors. Must have demonstrated administrative ability, supervisory capabilities and reliability. Must be able and willing to be available for daily twenty-four (24) hour call. Must possess knowledge of Federal and State Regulations. Additional Information
