Job Description

The SHA Early Childhood (EC) Director will be an inspirational leader who will be responsible for providing direction and leadership to SHA's Early Childhood program. The EC Director will report to the Head of School and is responsible for supervising the school's EC teaching staff and developing, implementing and managing a mission appropriate and developmentally appropriate EC program in an emotionally responsive environment.
Education Preferences for this position:
BA in Early Childhood Education or Elementary Education. MA preferred as well as experience in leadership preferred. Responsibilities Maintaining all requirements including reporting and standards for Washington State Department of Children, Youth and Families licensure (with assistance from Licensing Coordinator - currently EC Teacher Sheryl Warshal) At least 2 hours per workday as a classroom teacher Supervise and mentor EC teaching and administrative staff Hold and chair weekly EC staff meetings and/or training sessions Supervise the development and implementation of the EC curriculum with Teachers Provide professional development opportunities throughout the school year (with support from Licensing Coordinator) Meet regularly with EC teachers to assess classroom experiences, specific student concerns and offer ongoing professional guidance Provide continuing feedback and oral/written evaluation for teachers along with plans to address specific issues Work with teachers to provide support and strategies to meet individual student learning needs Coordinate the acquisition, distribution, and maintenance of supplies related to the EC program (currently with support) Assign teacher positions and hire as needed, with Head of School guidance and approval Create/maintain teacher schedules (currently with support) Oversee all administrative tasks to ensure program is run responsibly and efficiently Collaborate with colleagues and maintain a safe, clean and orderly environment reflecting the learning goals of the school Review and evaluate student anecdotal narrative reports Maintain a high degree of communication with parents including, but not limited to, phone calls, email, parent education programs and meetings with parents. Offer at least one evening for parents per year to demonstrate aspects of the curriculum. Engage in ongoing professional development Partner with the Principal of K - 8 to streamline a smooth transition from EC to K - 8, work collaboratively on schoolwide events, and more Other responsibilities as assigned by Head of School Please send cover letter and resume to Kerri Stern at kstern@sha613.org
