GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES

The Early Childhood Education Faculty is a 9-month position that is responsible for development and implementation of curriculum and instruction in the program areas of Early Childhood Education, Educator Preparation, and Child and Family Studies. This full-time faculty position works the equivalent of 30 load points per academic year that may be a combination of instruction, committee work, and other academic related activities. Provides academic and career advisement to Early Childhood Education majors. Conducts extensive travel to NPC campuses, centers, and early childhood settings throughout the NPC service area; serves on college committees; and engages in professional activities. The Early Childhood Education faculty teaches courses and monitors practicum experiences of the undergraduate courses within the Educator Preparation Programs department , as well as other courses for which they are qualified and assigned; teaches in a variety of environments and modes (team-taught offerings, day offerings, evening offerings, online offerings, hybrid offerings, etc.) in accordance with course outlines and instructional procedures; integrates technology with instruction; assesses students in relation to institutional goals, program goals, and course objectives; maintains appropriately scheduled office hours; develops good working relationships with discipline-related professionals in the College's Service area; collaborates and participates in AZTransfer to foster transferability opportunities; serves as a community resource in area of expertise; and is active in one's field of expertise. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Standard Faculty Expectations:

1. Teach a minimum of 30 load hours per academic year, at varied times and locations and using a variety of teaching delivery systems (including video, distance, online) within the qualified discipline. 2. Participate in the planning, development, and evaluationContinual Improvement of curriculum, including assessment of student learning, and program review. 3. Maintain accurate student records. 4. Maintain regular office hours and meet all instructional deadline. 5. Serve on program Advisory Councils, Committees, and Articulation Task Forces 6. Provide input for budgets, book orders, and, semester schedules. 7. Engage in creative and scholarly activities within the discipline. 8. Maintain industry recognized certification in assigned discipline, as required. 9. Positively support and promote college's governing board, administrators, faculty, staff, students and communities. 10. Perform other duties as assigned.

Discipline-Specific Expectations:

Teaching responsibilities may include but are not restricted to undergraduate courses in early childhood education . Other courses may be developed to fit the successful candidate's expertise and program demand as approved by the appropriate Dean. In addition, the successful candidate may Coordinate the planning, coordination, and organization of courses and internship experiences. Engage in creative and scholarly activities within the disciplines of Early Childhood and Child & Family Studies, including knowledge of state education systems, state standards for infants/toddlers; preschool age; and K-3. Be familiar with early childhood employment requirements related to Head Start and state K-3 teacher certification. Remain current in the subject matter areas and in the techniques of effective instruction. Participate in department activities, school meetings, program review, and serve on college committees as required to maintain and improve the instructional program. Develop and maintain outreach and cooperative activities. Provide input on departmental and related grant budgets. Assist with articulation issues, marketing, and workshops. Provide supportive, relationship-based academic and career advisement.

Advanc ed Physical Ability to perform the following physical requirements of the position with or without a reasonable accommodation: critical sensory requirements include general vision (corrected to 20/20), hear or listen in the normal range (corrected) and speak and give directions clearly. Basic Early Childhood Curriculum Ability to establish sound early childhood pedagogy and cooperative working relationships in a diverse, multi-cultural early childhood environment. Advanc ed Early Childhood Systems Knowledge of trends and issues related to the topics in the field. Advanc ed Minimum Qualifications 1. Master's degree in Early Childhood Education, or closely related discipline such as Early Intervention, Early Childhood Special Education, Child Development, Child and Family Studies, etc. or Master's degree in Education with either 18 graduate credits in early childhood or an early childhood teaching endorsement; 2. One year of experience teaching in higher education; 3. Five (5) years teaching experience in an early childhood (B-8) environment; 4. Knowledge of state and national standards for early childhood professional training and development.

REQUIRED LICENSE/CERTIFICATION

Valid Arizona driver's license IVP Card with Level 1 Clearance (as required by ADE Certification and DHS licensing). Supplemental Information

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Doctorate in Early Childhood Education or closely related field. Five (5) years of experience teaching in higher education, particularly using distance education tools. Arizona Department of Education Literacy Endorsed Arizona Department of Education SEI (Structured English Immersion) Endorsed Administrative experience in an early childhood environment.
