Montessori Preschool Teacher

Job Description

Our Montessori program offers a multi-age environment where students rotate between classrooms, exploring reading, math, science, and life skills through hands-on learning. A key part of our approach is one on one teacher guidance allowing each child to progress at their own pace while being supported and gently challenged. With diverse materials, teaching styles, and peer interaction, our program fosters independence, adaptability, collaboration, and a lifelong love of learning in a nurturing, engaging space. We are looking for an experienced, warm Preschool Teacher who loves working with young children to lead a classroom in our prepared Montessori environment. You will plan and guide your classroom's daily rhythm, help every child in your care feel safe, valued, and eager to learn, and partner closely with families. We are a small, close-knit team where everyone pitches in: no task is too small for anyone here, and we look for teachers who bring that spirit every day. Key Responsibilities Plan and implement the Montessori curriculum for your classroom, preparing materials and maintaining a well-ordered, inviting prepared environment. Supervise children during classroom activities, meals, rest time, transitions, and outdoor play, always maintaining required staff-to-child ratios. Provide full personal care for our youngest children (including diapering and toileting support) following the school's sanitation and supervision procedures. Guide children individually and in small groups, tailoring lessons to each child's pace, and use positive guidance consistent with our Montessori discipline approach. Observe and assess each child's progress, document regularly (including ClassDojo updates), and keep classroom records current for licensing and accreditation. Own communication with our school's families: warm daily contact at drop-off and pick-up, regular updates, and parent-teacher conferences. Be flexible and willing to support across roles as the day requires: covering for teammates, lending a hand at the front desk or with school events, and pitching in wherever the children and the team need you. Skills we require Child Development Associate (CDA) credential, active and in good standing. At least three (3) years of professional experience working with young children in a licensed school or childcare setting. Hands-on classroom experience, ideally in a Montessori setting, including experience with two-year-olds Proactive and eager learner: does not shy from asking for help, is open to learn and incorporate feedback and new ideas, and always looking for ways to improve A true team player: positive, flexible, and willing to help with whatever the children and the team need.
