Aug 26, 2026 Job Description Lead Teacher Transitional Pre-K Supervised by the Director

Supervises:

Teacher Assistant/Student Teacher Responsibilities include but not limited to:

Knowledge of the philosophy of the school
Safety of the children, including lifting and carrying children as needed
Functions as a cooperative team member within the classroom and the school
Observation and evaluation of children in the class. Written evaluations of each child are required
Planning, supervising and implementing a developmentally appropriate program for the class in accordance with the philosophy and curriculum of the school
Maintaining open communication with the children's families, including parent conferences and initiating and returning parent phone calls/emails as necessary
Participation in monthly staff meetings
Participation in Parent/Teacher Open House, Halloween Party and End of the year picnic
Maintaining the ordered arrangement, appearance and learning environment of the classroom
Responsible for accumulating appropriate number of professional development hours per DEEC requirements
Compliance with all regulations set forth by DEEC or subsequent licensing agency

Minimum Job Requirements:

4 courses in Early Childhood Education as approved by DEEC and 9 months of experience in a preschool setting.

Preferred Requirements:

bachelor's degree in early childhood education All Teachers must always comply the DEEC regulations. This includes, but is not limited to, supplying evidence of the following:
a physical examination from a physician upon employment and every two years thereafter, stating the employee can perform the above stated job
Proof of MMR immunity for those born after 1957
current first aid and CPR certification
DEEC certification, Lead Teacher
CORI report and fingerprinting
As the DEEC regulations change, these requirements will change
