About Us:
Mis Primeros Pasos - My First Steps is a small, inclusive, and supportive childcare center located in Ellsworth, Maine. Our mission is to provide a high-quality, safe, and nurturing environment for children and families. As a nature-based and bilingual program, children engage in outdoor learning experiences and are immersed in Spanish language development throughout their day.
Position Summary:
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Early Childhood Educator to join our team. The ideal candidate is energetic, reliable, and committed to supporting children's development through hands-on learning, outdoor exploration, and bilingual education. This is a fast-paced environment that requires flexibility, strong communication skills, and the ability to stay active throughout the day.
Responsibilities:
Plan, schedule, and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum and daily activities for a classroom of children Foster a positive, safe, and engaging learning environment Support children's social and emotional development using positive guidance techniques Maintain classroom cleanliness, including countertops, sinks, and tables Observe, assess, and document each child's progress using authentic assessment practices Communicate effectively with families and team members Participate in family engagement activities organized by the center Collaborate with the director to develop and complete an annual Professional Development Plan (minimum of 30 training hours) Ensure compliance with all program policies and state licensing regulations
Qualifications:
Strong communication and interpersonal skills Passion for early childhood education and outdoor learning Ability to work in a fast-paced environment Must be physically able to lift, move, and actively engage with children throughout the day Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred but not required
