We are seeking a dedicated and experienced School Age teacher to join our team at Cazenovia Children's House, located in Cazenovia, NY. The Lead Teacher will be responsible for creating a safe, nurturing, and educational environment for children in our care after school, Kindergarten-4th grade. The ideal candidate will have a passion for early childhood education, strong leadership skills, and the ability to develop and implement age-appropriate curriculum.
Key Responsibilities:
Curriculum Development:
PIan and implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum that meets the needs and interests of the children, incorporating educational activities that promote social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development.
Classroom Management:
Maintain a safe, organized, and engaging classroom environment. Establish and enforce rules for behavior and procedures to maintain order among the children.
Child Supervision:
Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of all children in your care at all times. Monitor children's progress and adapt teaching methods to meet the individual needs of each child.
Parent Communication:
Communicate regularly with parents/guardians about their child's progress, behavior, and any concerns. Conduct parent-teacher conferences as needed.
Team Leadership:
Lead and mentor assistant teachers and support staff within the classroom. Collaborate with other staff members to create a cohesive and supportive team environment.
Record Keeping:
Maintain accurate records of children's development, attendance, and any incidents. Prepare reports as required by the Executive Director or regulatory bodies.
Professional Development:
Stay updated on best practices in early childhood education. Attend training sessions and workshops as required to maintain and enhance your skills.
Compliance:
Ensure that all classroom activities and procedures comply with New York State daycare licensing regulations and Cazenovia Children's House policies.
Qualifications:
Education:
G.E.D. required, Associates degree a plus, Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of 2 years of experience in early childhood education, with at least 1 year in a lead or supervisory role. Strong knowledge of early childhood development and best practices in early education. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to develop and implement creative and engaging lesson plans. Leadership and team-building skills. Patience, compassion, and a genuine love for working with children.

Part-time Pay:
$16.00 - $17.00 per hour
