Description We are looking for compassionate and energetic after school counselors to join our team at Rippleton Center. Our school aged team will take on the role of providing a safe, nurturing, and educational environment for our school aged children and implementing a curriculum revolved around nature, the outdoors and fun! The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with young children, strong communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with both staff and parents. Opportunities for full time hours in the summer!
Key Responsibilities:
Program support: after school care (school aged children) implementing a developmentally appropriate curriculum. Help set up activities, supervise children during play, and facilitate educational games and lessons. Support with bus transition as children arrive from
CSD Child Supervision:
Ensure the safety and well-being of all children in your care. Monitor and engage with children during indoor and outdoor activities, ensuring they are always safe and supervised.
Classroom Environment:
Help maintain an organized, clean, and stimulating classroom environment. Assist with setting up and cleaning up after activities, as well as organizing learning materials.
Behavior Management:
Support the Lead Teacher in managing classroom behavior. Reinforce positive behavior and address any issues in a calm and constructive manner.
Parent Interaction:
Greet parents/guardians at drop-off and pick-up times. Communicate any daily updates or important information as directed by the Lead Teacher.
Record Keeping:
Assist in maintaining accurate records of attendance, daily activities, and any incidents that occur during the day.
Professional Development:
Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and stay updated on best practices in early childhood education.
Compliance:
Adhere to New York State daycare licensing regulations and Rippleton Center policies in all aspects of your work.
Qualifications:
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Certification:
CPR and First Aid certification is required (or willingness to obtain).
Experience:
Previous experience working with young children in a daycare, preschool, or similar setting is preferred.
Skills:
Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Patience, empathy, and a love for working with children. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team. Organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to follow instructions and implement classroom activities effectively.
