QUALIFICATIONS

: Bachelor's Degree in Child Development or Early Childhood Education, or Associate's Degree in ECE , or related fields with a CDA. A minimum of 2 years experience in an acceptable early care and education program is required.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Plan and execute classroom and outdoor activities that are developmentally appropriate and coincide with the practices set forth by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. Maintain an environment that helps each child to have a positive experience throughout the day. Provide an atmosphere of acceptance and caring for each child while showing as much individual attention as possible. Treat all children with dignity and respect and allow for individual differences. Meet the physical, emotional and social needs of infants 3 months -18 months. Build trusting relationships with parents that allow them to be partners in the education of their child. Provide a curriculum that helps each child develop to the fullest in each area of development. Ensure the appropriate supervision of the group at all times - outdoors, during naptime and throughout the day. Record daily attendance. Prepare materials for team planning sessions. Assist in the hiring of assistant teachers and aides. Orient, supervise and evaluate assistant teachers and assist staff in creating their professional development plan. Attend all staff meetings. Gather information and maintain child assessment data including anecdotal records on all children. Hold parent conferences and share written reports on each child at least twice a year. Be familiar and adhere to the Center's philosophy, policies, health and safety regulations and emergency procedures and be ready to implement these if necessary. Work cooperatively with other staff at the Center as well as all special education personnel and other program specialists working on behalf of the children. Meet the 30 hours of professional training within each licensing period that meets the requirements of NYS licensing standards as well as training in First Aid/CPR and other professional development as required.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Outdoors for extended periods in varied climates. Potential exposure to ill children Lifting, carrying children, moving, cleaning, maintaining equipment. Frequent high noise level. Attending to several responsibilities at once.
