Must meet Pennsylvania Director qualifications About Us Rising Stride Child Care Center is a licensed child care center in Pennsylvania dedicated to providing a safe, nurturing, and enriching environment for young children. We are seeking an experienced and reliable Interim Preschool/Pre-K Assistant Director to provide leadership and operational support while ensuring the success of our Preschool and Pre-K programs. Position Details The Interim Preschool/Pre-K Assistant Director will work closely with the Center Director to support the daily management of the center, oversee Preschool and Pre-K classrooms, maintain compliance with Pennsylvania licensing regulations, and ensure accurate Pre-K Counts and classroom ratios. This temporary leadership role requires a strong understanding of early childhood education, Preschool and Pre-K operations, and state licensing standards. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who is comfortable supporting teachers, communicating with families, and stepping into classrooms when needed. Key Responsibilities Assist the Center Director with the daily operation of the child care center Monitor and maintain Preschool and Pre-K classroom counts, enrollment, and staff-to-child ratios Ensure compliance with Pennsylvania Department of Human Services (DHS) regulations and center policies Provide leadership, coaching, and support to Preschool and Pre-K teaching staff Serve as acting Director or classroom teacher when necessary Assist with staff scheduling, classroom coverage, and operational needs Support curriculum implementation and developmentally appropriate classroom practices Conduct classroom observations and support quality improvement initiatives Maintain accurate attendance, enrollment, and licensing documentation Foster positive relationships with families, children, staff, and community partners Respond professionally to parent concerns and assist with conflict resolution Ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming learning environment Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development activities Minimum Qualifications Minimum of 2 years of experience in a licensed child care center or early childhood education setting Experience working with Preschool and Pre-K age groups required Familiarity with the Pennsylvania Pre-K Counts Program, including enrollment procedures, attendance tracking, reporting requirements, and compliance standards, preferred Experience maintaining classroom ratios, enrollment counts, and program documentation Previous supervisory, leadership, or administrative experience preferred Education Must meet Pennsylvania Director qualifications for a licensed child care center Degree or coursework in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Education, or a related field preferred Additional Requirements Strong knowledge of early childhood development, particularly Preschool and Pre-K age groups Experience managing classroom ratios, attendance, and enrollment counts Infant/Child CPR and Pediatric First Aid Certification (required or willingness to obtain) Ability to pass FBI, Child Abuse, National Sex Offender Registry, and Pennsylvania State Police clearances Must pass a health assessment and meet immunization requirements Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced environment Professional demeanor with a positive, team-oriented attitude Proficiency with child care management systems and recordkeeping preferred Compensation $23.00 per hour Full-time schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM Paid Holidays & Snow Days (following local public school closings).
