Part-Time Summary:

The Assistant Teacher supports the Lead Teacher in creating a nurturing and educational environment for young children. The Assistant Teacher assists in implementing the curriculum, managing classroom activities, and maintaining positive relationships with families. The Assistant Teacher ensures compliance with state regulations and center policies under the guidance of the Lead Teacher.

Key Responsibilities:

Curriculum Support:

○ Assist the Lead Teacher in planning and implementing a developmentally appropriate curriculum. ○ Engage with children in activities that promote cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development. ○ Help prepare and organize materials and resources for daily activities. 2.

Classroom Management:

○ Maintain a safe, clean, and inviting classroom environment. ○ Support the establishment and enforcement of classroom rules and routines. ○ Supervise children during activities, transitions, and outdoor play to ensure safety and well-being. 3.

Child Observation and Assessment:

○ Assist in observing and documenting each child's development and progress. ○ Provide input for child assessments and help maintain accurate records. ○ Share observations and insights with the Lead Teacher to support individualized planning. 4.

Collaboration and Teamwork:

○ Work collaboratively with the Lead Teacher and other staff members. ○ Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities. ○ Support the Lead Teacher in mentoring new staff and volunteers. 5.

Family Engagement:

○ Foster positive relationships with families and communicate regularly about their child's experiences. ○ Assist in planning and implementing family involvement activities and events. ○ Provide support during family conferences and meetings as needed. 6.

Health and Safety:

○ Ensure a healthy and safe environment for all children. ○ Follow and enforce all health and safety policies, including those related to hygiene, nutrition, and emergency procedures. ○ Administer first aid and medication as necessary, according to center policy and training.

Knowledge and Skills:

• Understanding of child development principles and Washington State Early Learning and Development Guidelines.
• Familiarity with state licensing requirements and regulations.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Basic proficiency in computer applications (e.

g., Microsoft Office).

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
• Ability to sit on the floor, bend, stoop, and engage with children at their level.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.

Employment Requirements :

• Must pass a Washington State background check.
• Must complete required state and center-specific training.
• Must have current CPR and First Aid certification.
• Must complete TB testing, Blood Borne Pathogens Training, Child Care Basics training course, and maintain an updated MERIT account.

$18.00 - $19.00 per hour
