Job Description
St. Peter's Early Learning Center (ELC) is searching for a qualified, patient, and passionate early child care teacher who has experience working in an early childhood setting, specifically as a lead teacher. The lead teacher is responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating developmentally appropriate practice in the classroom with the assistance of the director. St. Peter's ELC is committed to assisting families in nurturing their children in the light of God's Word. Along with providing a Christ-centered education, we strive to keep safety for our children as our highest priority. To excel as an early childhood teacher, the lead teacher should be passionate with strong management and instructional skills, fostering positive relationships with staff and families through effective communication, and able to meet the physical demands of working with little ones throughout a given day. The Lead Teacher is able to… ➔ Plan, implement, and evaluate developmentally appropriate practice in the classroom ➔ Submit lesson plans to the director ➔ Log updates of a child's day on the center's communication app ➔ Communicate positively and effectively with families daily ➔ Update the director on family/student information ➔ Maintain a positive and safe learning environment ➔ Provide care, first aid if needed, feed, and adhere to individual children's schedules ➔ Set and enforce a potty-training plan for each child ➔ Change diapers and/or pull-ups ➔ Encourage developmentally-appropriate play and collaborative play among children ➔ Observe and monitor children's play ➔ Clean and sterilize classroom surfaces, furniture, and toys ➔ Monitor transition times and bathroom times ➔ Move cots and supervise naps ➔ Supervise lunch and snacks ➔ Clean tables and floors after snack and lunch ➔ Enforce classroom and ELC rules and expectations ➔ Work cohesively with other staff and contribute to a strong "team mindset" ➔ Attend ELC functions such as open houses, family nights, and church services ➔ Attend staff meetings and staff development functions ➔ Demonstrate a love for early childhood and God's children
