TENURE-TRACK ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF PSYCHOLOGY

Franklin College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position in Psychology at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning August 2027. We seek an enthusiastic teacher-scholar committed to undergraduate education and collaborative work in a liberal arts community. Position Responsibilities We especially welcome candidates with graduate training or expertise in clinical or counseling psychology whose background would support courses such as Psychological Disorders and Mental Wellness, Introduction to Counseling, and Theories of Personality. Candidates from other areas of psychology are also encouraged to apply, particularly when their expertise complements the existing curriculum and creates new opportunities for students. Teaching responsibilities will include courses such as General Psychology, other core courses in the psychology curriculum, and courses within the candidate's area of expertise. The standard teaching load is 24 credit hours per academic year, with additional participation in the College's distinctive Immersive Term once every three years. In addition to classroom teaching, the successful candidate will:

• Advise and mentor undergraduate students while supporting their academic, professional, and career development;
• Support internships, experiential learning, and other opportunities that connect students' academic work with professional development;
• Mentor undergraduate research through course-embedded projects, independent studies, and other relevant opportunities;
• Maintain an active program of scholarship appropriate to a teaching-focused liberal arts college, with opportunities to involve undergraduate students in scholarly activity when suitable; and
• Participate in departmental and College service, including committee work.

The successful candidate should be prepared to contribute to a student-centered department that values effective teaching, mentoring, scholarship, applied learning, and engagement with the broader campus community. Qualifications Candidates should demonstrate a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching, openness to innovation, and interest in working closely with students in a small, collegial liberal arts environment.

Required qualifications include:

• A Ph.

D., Psy.

D. or ABD (with degree completion expected by August 2027) in psychology;

• One or more years of college-level teaching experience as either instructor of record or teaching assistant;
• Willingness to teach a variety of undergraduate psychology courses; and
• Enthusiasm for mentoring and advising undergraduate students.

Preferred qualifications include:

• Graduate training in clinical or counseling psychology;
• Experience mentoring undergraduate students and involving them in research or other scholarly activities; and
• Interest in supporting internships, career exploration, and other forms of professional development.
