We work with children who have dyslexia and other language-based learning differences. Our approach is rooted in Structured Literacy, the Science of Reading, and explicit, systematic instruction in reading, spelling, and writing. This is not a tutoring or homework-help position. We are looking for an educator who understands how children learn to read and can provide thoughtful, individualized intervention for students who need more than traditional classroom instruction. We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Structured Literacy Reading Interventionist to join our dynamic educational team. In this vital role, you will implement evidence-based literacy strategies rooted in structured literacy principles to support students with diverse learning needs. Your expertise will help foster a love for reading, improve literacy skills, and promote academic success for children with developmental disabilities, autism, and other learning challenges. This position offers an exciting opportunity to collaborate with educators, therapists, and families to create personalized learning experiences that empower students to reach their full potential. What You'll Do Provide 1:1 Structured Literacy intervention to elementary and middle school students Deliver explicit, systematic instruction in phonemic awareness, phonics, decoding, encoding, syllable types, morphology, fluency, vocabulary, reading comprehension, spelling, and written expression Use diagnostic information and ongoing observation to identify student needs and adjust instruction Develop individualized lessons based on each student's current skill level Build student confidence while maintaining high academic expectations Track student progress and communicate appropriately with families and The Reading Village team Collaborate with other Reading Village educators and professionals Participate in ongoing professional development and team collaboration The Ideal Candidate We are looking for someone who: Has experience working with students with dyslexia and/or language-based learning disabilities Has formal training in Structured Literacy, Wilson, LETRS, UFLI, or a comparable evidence-based approach Understands the importance of explicit and systematic reading instruction Is knowledgeable about phonology, phonics, syllable types, morphology, spelling, and written language Can analyze student errors and use that information to guide instruction Is warm, patient, energetic, and able to build strong relationships with students Is highly organized and dependable Is comfortable communicating with parents and collaborating with a professional team Wants to continue learning and growing as a literacy educator Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in education, special education, literacy, or a related field Experience providing reading intervention Experience working with children with dyslexia or language-based learning disabilities Strong understanding of evidence-based literacy instruction Excellent communication and organizational skills Reliable transportation for in-person sessions Why Join The Reading Village?
