Overview The Technology Mentor & Digital Literacy Instructor plays a pivotal role in bridging the digital divide by empowering individuals with the essential computer skills, digital tools, and technical confidence needed for personal, academic, and professional success. In this dual-capacity role, you will design and facilitate interactive workshops (Digital Literacy Instructor) while providing tailored, one-on-one guidance and troubleshooting support to learners of varying backgrounds and skill levels (Technology Mentor). Technology Mentorship Digital Inclusion Advocacy Track Learner Progress Lab Management Resource Development Qualifications Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Education, Information Technology, Communication, or a related field preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in adult education, community instruction, tutoring, IT helpdesk, or public customer service.
Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive, Meet).
Digital tools:
Video conferencing platforms (Zoom, Teams), web browsers, basic computer setup, and peripheral configuration.
Communication Skills:
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with a proven ability to translate complex technical jargon into plain, easy-to-understand language Work Conditions & Physical Demands Work is performed in a typical classroom, community center, library, or computer lab environment. May require standing or walking around a lab setting for extended periods while assisting learners. Ability to lift up to 20-25 lbs (e.g., moving laptops, monitors, or instructional supplies) may occasionally be required. Periodic evening or weekend availability may be required depending on class schedules.
