Job Description

Category Schools - Reading Specialist Job Type Contract Make a meaningful impact on students' literacy as a dedicated Reading Specialist. Working in a collaborative educational environment, the Reading Specialist will support classrooms by strengthening literacy instruction and boosting reading and writing achievement. Utilizing assessment data, you'll identify student needs, provide targeted intervention, and assist instructional staff in applying evidence-based literacy strategies. This role specifically targets small group instruction—typically working with groups of approximately six students on a 30-minute rotation—with occasional push-in support as the schedule demands. As a Reading Specialist on a teacher-contracted schedule, you'll partner closely with classroom teachers and other educational professionals, forming a data-informed and coordinated approach to literacy support for every learner.
Key Qualifications:
Pennsylvania State Educator License with a Reading Specialist certification. Minimum of two years recent classroom teaching experience preferred. Skilled in using formative and summative data to inform instructional decisions. Comfortable working with diverse learners in small group and classroom settings. Strong collaboration and communication skills.
Core Responsibilities:
Deliver direct reading interventions and literacy instruction to small groups. Assess student progress and adjust instruction as needed. Support classroom teachers in implementing literacy strategies and best practices. Engage in team meetings to analyze data and develop intervention plans. Promote a positive, engaging learning environment for all students.
