Job Description

Category Schools - Reading Specialist Job Type Contract Make a meaningful difference in students' literacy development by providing expert reading support as a Reading Specialist. This contract position is located near Punxsutawney, PA, and offers the opportunity to work directly with students while collaborating alongside talented educators and support staff. As a Reading Specialist, you will: Analyze assessment data to identify individual student strengths and targeted areas for growth in reading and writing Deliver direct instruction and interventions to small groups—typically six students at a time, with sessions rotating every 30 minutes Collaborate with classroom teachers and instructional staff, guiding the implementation of research-based literacy strategies Support a data-driven, coordinated literacy program that addresses both classroom and individual student needs Provide occasional push-in support for inclusive literacy instruction Adhere to the school's regular teacher contract schedule To excel in this role, candidates should possess: A valid Pennsylvania State Educator License with a Reading Specialist endorsement Two or more years of recent teaching experience (preferred) In-depth knowledge of literacy development, assessment, and intervention best practices Strong communication and collaboration skills, with a passion for supporting academic growth In return, you'll enjoy a supportive environment that values your expertise—plus a generous hourly rate ranging from $34 to $38.
