Job Description

Department of Health and Exercise Science / PreDoctor of Physical Therapy TrackPosition SummaryMisericordia University seeks qualified Adjunct Faculty to teach undergraduate courses that support the PreDoctor of Physical Therapy pathway. We invite applications from physical therapists and related professionals who are passionate about preparing students for graduatelevel DPT education and practice.

ResponsibilitiesAdjunct faculty may be assigned lecture and/or lab courses in areas such as:

Functional Anatomy and KinesiologyPathophysiology for RehabilitationIntroduction to Physical Therapy and Health Care SystemsBiomechanics and Movement AnalysisTherapeutic Exercise PrinciplesNeuroscience / Motor Control foundations (introductory level)EvidenceBased Practice / Introduction to Clinical ResearchAdditional responsibilities include:

Designing and delivering courses that build foundational knowledge and clinical reasoning expected for DPT admissionFacilitating labbased activities such as goniometry, manual muscle testing, posture and gait analysis, and basic therapeutic exerciseIntegrating professional behaviors, ethics, and interprofessional perspectives into classroom discussionsProviding timely, constructive feedback on student performanceMaintaining accurate course records and participating in basic departmental communication as neededMinimum QualificationsDoctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) or masters degree in Physical Therapy;OR a masters in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or related field with significant experience teaching prePT contentCurrent or eligible physical therapy license (preferred for PTtrained applicants)Strong foundation in human anatomy, kinesiology, and rehabilitation principlesDemonstrated ability to communicate complex clinical concepts to undergraduate learnersCommitment to the mission and values of Misericordia UniversityPreferred QualificationsTeaching experience at the collegiate level (undergraduate or DPT programs)Active clinical practice in orthopedics, sports, neurology, or related areasExperience mentoring prePT or DPT students in clinical or academic settingsFamiliarity with CAPTE expectations and preprofessional preparation for DPT programsExperience with learning management systems and technologyenhanced teachingApplication Materials RequiredCover letter describing teaching interests, clinical expertise, and preferred course areasCurriculum vitae or rsumCopy of current PT license (if applicable)Contact information for three referencesUnofficial transcripts (official transcripts required upon hire)Misericordia University, a vibrant community founded in 1924 by the Sisters of Mercy!
