Department of Health and Exercise SciencePosition SummaryMisericordia University is seeking qualified Adjunct Faculty to teach undergraduate courses in Exercise Science on a parttime, semesterbysemester basis. We welcome dedicated educators who are committed to student learning, professional excellence, and supporting our mission of providing a valuesbased education in the Mercy tradition.
ResponsibilitiesAdjunct faculty may be assigned lecture or lab courses in areas such as:
Exercise PhysiologyKinesiology & BiomechanicsStrength and ConditioningAnatomy & Physiology (with lab, as appropriate)Motor Behavior / Motor LearningFitness Assessment & Exercise PrescriptionHealth Promotion & WellnessAdditional responsibilities include:
Preparing course materials, syllabi, assessments, and lab activities aligned with departmental standardsTeaching in facetoface or hybrid modalities, depending on departmental needProviding timely, formative, and summative feedback to studentsMaintaining accurate academic records, attendance, and gradesSupporting an inclusive, studentcentered learning environmentCollaborating with program faculty to ensure curricular consistency and accreditation standardsMinimum QualificationsMasters degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Exercise Physiology, or a closely related fieldDemonstrated content knowledge in assigned teaching areasStrong communication and interpersonal skillsCommitment to the mission and values of Misericordia UniversityPreferred QualificationsCollegiate teaching experience (lecture and/or lab)Relevant clinical or professional experience in exercise science, fitness, or healthrelated fieldsProfessional certifications (e.g., ACSMEP, ACSMCEP, NSCACSCS, NASM, ACE)Experience with learning management systems (e.g., Blackboard) and technologyenhanced instructionExperience supervising undergraduate research or applied projectsApplication Materials RequiredCover letter describing teaching interests and availabilityCurriculum vitae or rsumContact information for three referencesUnofficial transcripts (official transcripts required upon hire)Misericordia University, a vibrant community founded in 1924 by the Sisters of Mercy!
