Job Description

6th Grade Math & Science Teacher - Full-Time Warner Christian Academy - South Daytona, Florida Position Overview Warner Christian Academy (WCA) is seeking a Christ-centered, academically strong, and relationally driven 6th Grade Math & Science Teacher to join our middle school team. This position is part of a three-teacher 6th grade team committed to partnering with families and guiding students through a pivotal transition into middle school. The successful candidate will step into an existing 6th grade Math and Science teaching assignment and join a team that is already actively serving students.
The current teaching assignment includes:
1 section of Math 6 2 sections of Fundamentals of Mathematics 6 (advanced Math 6) 2 sections of Comprehensive Science 6 The school year is already underway, so the successful candidate will be joining students and a 6th grade team that have already established routines, relationships, and classroom expectations. We are looking for someone who can step into this role with confidence, professionalism, and a genuine desire to invest in students. This position includes five teaching periods and two planning periods each day, providing dedicated time for lesson preparation, assessment, collaboration, and student support. Mission Alignment At Warner Christian Academy, "WCA exists to partner with families in shaping students into the image of Christ by helping them discover Truth in academics, athletics, and arts." Our vision is that, "Through a strong partnership with families, Warner Christian Academy is forming and sending out graduates who are Christlike in character and intellectually virtuous—ready to pursue Truth, lead with wisdom, and impact their communities, for God's glory." The 6th grade team plays a particularly important role in this vision as students make the transition into middle school. We are looking for a teacher who understands that teaching Math and Science is about more than delivering content—it is an opportunity to help students develop a love for Truth, think carefully and critically, and grow in both intellectual virtue and Christlike character. Primary Responsibilities Instruction & Curriculum Step into an established 6th grade Math and Science program and provide consistent, high-quality instruction. Teach Math 6 and Fundamentals of Mathematics 6, appropriately challenging students at different levels of mathematical readiness. Teach Comprehensive Science 6. Integrate a biblical worldview authentically and thoughtfully throughout Math and Science instruction. Help students recognize the order, design, and truth found within God's creation. Cultivate intellectual virtues such as curiosity, attentiveness, carefulness, thoroughness, courage, and tenacity. Use a variety of instructional strategies to promote genuine understanding rather than simple completion or memorization. Maintain and build upon the academic routines and expectations already established in the classroom. Student Development Build strong, Christ-centered relationships with students. Establish and maintain a structured, positive, and engaging classroom culture. Challenge students academically while providing appropriate support and encouragement. Help students develop responsibility, discipline, perseverance, and a love of learning. Model intellectual humility, curiosity, carefulness, and a commitment to pursuing Truth. Assessment & Communication Assess student progress regularly and provide timely, meaningful feedback. Maintain accurate and up-to-date grade records. Communicate proactively and professionally with parents. Partner with families to support student academic and personal growth. Work to ensure a smooth transition for students as they welcome a new teacher into an already-established school year. Collaboration & Professionalism Collaborate closely with the other members of the 6th grade team to provide a consistent and cohesive student experience. Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school events. Support the broader mission, vision, and culture of Warner Christian Academy. Contribute positively to a collaborative, Christ-centered faculty community. Spiritual Expectations The ideal candidate will: Demonstrate a clear, mature, and growing relationship with Jesus Christ. Serve as a Christian role model in both word and action. Demonstrate a genuine commitment to Christian education and the integration of faith and learning. Be comfortable leading students in prayer and spiritual conversations. Understand the teacher's role in helping students grow not only academically, but also in Christlike character and intellectual virtue. Qualifications Bachelor's degree required; education, Mathematics, Science, or a related field preferred. Middle school or upper elementary teaching experience preferred. Strong content knowledge in Mathematics and Science. Ability to teach both standard and advanced 6th grade Mathematics. Strong classroom management and organizational skills. Excellent communication and relational abilities. Ability to step confidently into an established classroom and build relationships quickly. Commitment to Christian education and alignment with the mission and vision of Warner Christian Academy. Willingness to participate in the life of the school beyond the classroom. Work Schedule 5 teaching periods per day 2 planning periods per day Teaching assignments limited to 6th grade Participation in faculty meetings, professional development, and occasional school events Why Warner Christian Academy? At WCA, we believe education is about more than preparing students to pass a test or graduate from high school. We are seeking to form young people who know Christ, love Truth, think well, and are prepared to lead and serve others. Our 6th grade team provides an opportunity for a teacher to have a significant impact on students during an important developmental transition. The ideal candidate will embrace the opportunity to teach rigorous Mathematics and Science while helping students develop the intellectual habits and Christlike character that will serve them throughout their education and beyond. Because this position begins after the school year has already started, we are especially interested in a teacher who can step in, build relationships quickly, establish trust, and provide continuity for students while bringing his or her own strengths and personality to the classroom.
