Job Description
Seeking a Health and Family Consumer Science Teacher to implement a proficiency-based
approach to the teaching of grades 9-12 Health and Family Consumer Science courses. The
ideal candidate will provide dynamic, student-centered instruction that engages a wide range of
learners in topics such as nutrition, wellness, human development, personal finance, and life
skills. All WRVHS Teachers work with students in Advisory Groups and Independent Study
courses. Candidates interested in coaching and/or sponsoring co-curricular activities including
clubs will be given additional consideration.
Education and/or experience - A Vermont certified Health Education and Family Consumer
Science teacher, or a candidate eligible for a VT teaching license.
Demonstrated Skills and Abilities:
Commitment to the vision that "All students are supported, challenged, and engaged
with a personalized education."
Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment.
Demonstrated experience with virtual instruction, especially use of the Google Suite.
Understanding of how to support the Vermont Flexible Pathways Initiative, created by
Act 77.
Responsibilities:
Deliver engaging and relevant instruction that promotes lifelong health, wellness, and life
management skills.
Develop a curriculum that follows and assesses the WRVSU Learning Expectations.
Guide further development of personalized learning plans and passage presentations
into a personalized learning process that blends proficiency, purpose, and engagement.
Facilitate and monitor independent and guided learning experiences to engage students
interested in alternate pathways to learning and graduation.
Any other duties as assigned by the administration.
