This role is at the heart of our program each day — setting up and leading our outdoor Community Classroom shared by all three of our classes, supporting our classroom teachers, and helping our long day children have a wonderful afternoon. If you love working outdoors, thrive on variety, and enjoy building relationships with children across age groups, we'd love to meet you. About the Role Working in collaboration with the TOPS teaching team, this position works with the Director to set up and facilitate the outdoor Community Classroom experience shared by all three classes, supports classroom teachers with morning breaks, and supports the long day teachers and children who remain in the program until 2:30pm. A Day in This Role 8:30
9:30am: Set up the outdoor Community Classroom, working with the Director 9:30
10:15am: Provide break coverage for classroom teachers 10:30
11:30am: Lead outdoor Community Outside Time for all three classes 11:30am
12:00pm: Community Classroom clean-up and reset 12:30
2:00pm: Support long day teachers and children in the Community Classroom 2:00
3:00pm: End-of-day clean-up, materials reset, and planning time What You'll Do Create an inviting, developmentally appropriate outdoor learning environment every day Facilitate playful, hands-on learning for children ages 2-5 across all three classrooms Support classroom teachers with breaks and transitions throughout the morning Partner with our long day team to make afternoons engaging and fun Build genuine, warm relationships with children, families, and fellow teachers Collaborate with the teaching team on curriculum and outdoor classroom design What We're Looking For Minimum 6 ECE units and a California Child Development Assistant Permit Experience with or strong interest in nature-based, play-based early childhood education Flexibility and comfort moving between classrooms and age groups throughout the day A collaborative, team-oriented approach and strong communication skills Enthusiasm for being outside in all kinds of weather Ability to pass a background check and meet all California health and safety requirements, including current TB test, CPR, and first aid certification
